I will come again

Eugenia’s weekly prompt is JUBILANT

I will come again
in absence of darkness
I will come
-when I don’t need to carry light
or carry your sins
-when my palms are not nailed
and head not crowned with thorns

I will come again
when you celebrate
not birth or resurrection
but existence
in a better world
I don’t ask for
heaven or utopia

Perfection is always
that star in the sky
difficult to reach
but the effort to climb
one step at a time
on ladders
hanging in the air
with a belief
that it’s possible
counts

It’s the only thing that counts
for mortals
leave the world a better place
than you found it
I will come again
in jubilant times
when you celebrate
Existence, not immortality

  1. Oh, my! This is an amazing piece! It’s existence that matters – the here and the now. I believe we are here to make the world a better place and we must try harder. Life is not a dress rehearsal, it is the real thing. Brava, Reena! This is one of the most beautiful pieces you have written and one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve read.
