they say it’s the Middle East crisis
or fluctuating exchange rates
on international currencies
being enveloped in the glow
still hides imperfections
show-cases ethereality
the woman next door
still saves money to buy
gold for her daughter’s wedding
but the graphs are mercurial
-indicators of imposed value
Perspectives rule…
they ask promised returns
in short and long terms
-undervalue permanence
secrets lying underground
refuse to be mined
to enter a fickle world
of glorified imitations
measurement in carats
being tortured to insert stones
-sold as commitment
gold asks for its rightful place
in unwavering hearts
but lives on roller coasters
in wealth graphs
Excellent thought process…great overview of something mostly overlooked.

Informed write, Reena. We value too many material things for all the wrong reasons.

Gold is something we fill with more meaning than we should… and there is always a menace behind it’s sheen.

Robert Kiyosaki is recommending investments in metal rather than keeping money in banks. He is sure getting richer 🙂

I love the way you segue between gold as a commodity and gold as a substance of myth and meaning.
