Night and day, always at play

when I hide, you come out to play

watch changing colors of the clay

the world is what we make of it

plunged in darkness, or cheerfully lit

power, love and the sky we share

though never seen together there

length of fleeting shadows on the soil

to measure revolving, rotating turmoil

rooted in ether, we stay and smile

as days and nights cover the last mile

  1. The first and last lines tie these couplets together almost like a couplet themselves. The hiding while the other comes out to play in the first and the ominous “last mile” for days and nights to cover are very nice.
