they have a way of telling you
love, happiness, sorrow
never stand alone
or serve you in times of need
it impacts your system today
because that is the wolf
you chose to feed
they have a way of letting you know
silent subconscious bits
can come together to create
collages of dreams or surprises
brighten up life unanticipated
or disrupt seemingly established
normal days, sunsets, sunrises
they’ve a way of reminding you
they were waiting in the wings
or underground for long
to touch your fingers
feel your love or hatred
establish new equations
whether you welcome
or give them sniggers
weeds always compel me
to take a deeper look
appreciate negativity
be grateful for what it taught
and gradually find a way
of living better
letting life grow
in minds and hands
grip but not let it slip
like fingers losing sands
How would we learn if not for the “weeds” in our lives? Excellent write, Reena!

I love the way you have explored the positives and benefits of weeds in this poem, Reena. I especially identify with these lines:
‘they’ve a way of reminding you
they were waiting in the wings
or underground for long
to touch your fingers’
and
‘weeds always compel me
to take a deeper look’.
