This was his desk from where he texted customers every evening.
“Have dirty linen to wash? You can trust us to maintain complete secrecy.”
It was a marketing technique that worked reasonably well for him. Customers smiled as they handed over their laundry.
One afternoon, a well-manicured hand filled the empty cup with coffee. He looked up in surprise.
“Well, care about sharing some of the gossip? I’m planning a novel based on life in this city. You will be paid for it.”
“I’d have loved to, but public memory is short, and most of it goes down the drain.”
Very clever. 🙂

Great story, Reena. I loved the ending. So true that scandal is fleeting, luckily. Great idea for writing a novel though, searching out the person doing the laundry. 🙂

It can be the watercooler in the office, or any other joint where hang around.

Great take! I love the idea of paying someone at a laundromat for gossip! Who knows what they’ve heard.

Dear Reena,
An interesting place to gather information for a novel. She might try the local beauty salon or barber shop as well. 😉
