“An unfinished story invites. It gives everyone the liberty to complete it as they like.” Henry’s words keep haunting me as I browse through his incomplete manuscript.
Unfinished structures welcome every new brick or stone. They reach completion but not in the manner as perceived in the beginning.
I call the publisher.
“If this book needs to be published, it will be in two distinct parts – the first authored by Henry, and the second as perceived by me. Ensure authenticity.”
“Don’t you think it will be a wonderful twist to take your part first, and then show readers the background?”

Interesting twist … perhaps it will further complicate the already divided story.

And marketeers will sell it with the help of those gaps 🤗

Ah, publishers. So many of us strive for one, but I’m not sure we’d like what we got!

They thrive on the distribution and marketing services they offer. Anybody can publish on Amazon or Kindle.

Does any other industry hold the creators of thier product in such disregard?

It depends on how easily the product can be replicated or modified. Shark Tank brings up many such discussions.

Start with the ending, I say. If you have a secret, give it away from the start

Dear Reena,
And as I edit for a publisher, the truth of this is driven home.

I think every book published by a publisher is one 3rd the author, two thrids the publisher. They will only publish something written the way they want it regardless of the author.
A great use of the prompt, Reena.
