Translated thoughts

The scientist presents his paper in his own language, and the interpreter sweats in translating all the jargon.

“It would make sense if everybody uses the common language – English”, cribs the lady in the adjoining seat.

“English is not so common either..”

“But the majority here speaks the language.”

“Do you realize the guy will fumble in English?”

“Why should he? He’s such a learned person.”

“Undoubtedly. But he thinks in the vernacular language. And translated thoughts do not have quite the same effect. Watch his animated expressions and excitement..”

  1. One only needs to read any research report written for a peer reviewed journal to know that the writer does not care if the average person understands it. So true.
