fantasies mushrooming in shell-shocked minds
suspended underground by power play in the skies
it’s the only way to escape doom, to plant hope
in a child fingering canned food
thinking of tomorrow in an alien land
and come back the day after
under a clear blue sky
events push different buttons in different people
-immortalizing it in art
prevents dissipation of lessons learnt
like a virus that comes and goes, mutates into insouciance
history buried in eagerness to resume normalcy
awareness throbbing underground
sprouts new forms of art and science
to weave a fabric of continuity
appliqued with forgotten stories
‘There was a problem with this request. We’re working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.’
I shared it on facebook. Their message- There was a problem with this request. We’re working on getting it fixed as soon as we can. Half an hour… still try to fix it.
I especially love this ‘awareness throbbing underground
sprouts new forms of art and science’. This is exactly what is happening now. Thank you for this beautiful poem 💛💙
Reena, your imagery in the first verse is so powerful. The imagery of war is rich with your choice of words: “mushrooming, doom, alien land…” I hope the horrors in Ukraine end soon. ❤

Facebook and WordPress are not always compatible. One method is to copy-paste the link, instead of sharing.

We all find different means to cope… word and art are just two.

Exploring all can become a novel ☺️ Some of those means are negative. Thanks, Bjorn!

Insightful words to ponder. I especially love the image at the end…”to weave a fabric of continuity appliqued with forgotten stories”

This is a great line. Everyone perceives things based on past experience. Hopefully there will be light at the end of the tunnel for Ukraine!
