I think of unknowable as being beyond the limits of human understanding. Humans are curious creatures, and this curiosity drives us to search for explanations. We feel that if we are able to understand things, that these explanations will give us some control over our lives. Sometimes we invent things, so we can comprehend what is going on. Take the Big Bang, which supposedly created our universe, and we theorize that this happened 13.8 billion years ago, when everything in existence is thought to have occupied a single infinitely dense point, or singularity. At the moment of the Big Bang the density of the universe was so high that no information could escape from it. Under these conditions all the laws of physics break down and therefore only a hypothesis of what happened is possible, as there is no physical evidence.
