When I elevated you and was pushed down
I voted you to power, to look like a clown
I’m not imbecile, and I want my rights
Hobson’s choice – just one long night
I voted you to power, to look like a clown
There was no one there, but your fake smile
Hobson’s choice – just one long night
I’ll jump in the arena to prove my might
There was no one there, but your fake smile
When I elevated you and was pushed down
I’ll jump in the arena to prove my might
I’m not imbecile, and I want my rights
Hobson’s choice is typical, we like to believe in democracy, which means doing what other people decide. Well versed in the poem.

I love learning new things. I did a quick google on “hobson’s choice” and got a mini-education 🙂 “Take it or leave it.”
Love the poetic style, Reena.

Thank you 😀 It reminds me of how few choices we had in childhood compared to kids today.

True, in retrospect, but it never seemed to me that we were limited. We were, I believe, better at entertaining ourselves, though. Falling back on our own resources.

This is an excellent poem. I don’t know which form of poetry it is but it’s very effective in conveying your message!

Thanks! It is a Pantoum. It worked out to exactly 100 words without any manipulation, and I just let it be.

You took me back to the sixties and seventies, with marches and protest songs. Perhaps we made a little difference to the world…

It’s great having a choice every four or five years about which bunch of clowns get to make all the decisions.
