What I call a whisper is too loud for some
My breath blows away living beings
I can’t hear below twenty decibels
my heart murmurs away all life
My breath blows away living beings
I cannot contain my own power
my heart murmurs away all life
It makes its beats felt sometimes
I cannot contain my own power
What I call a whisper is too loud for some
It makes its beats felt sometimes
I can’t hear below twenty decibels
I see you quivering, blabbering,
Blaming, shaming
Yet I don’t try, and I can’t
stoop low to match smallness
This poem had me reeling. I felt compelled to reread it a few times over, slowing down to take in each line and how it played with the one before. I agree with D, the repetitions work.

Norah asks a good question. I was thinking nuclear power plant.
But mostly I was taken by the form of the poem. The repetitions work.

Thank you! I’ve tweaked the Pantoum format by adding a stanza in free verse, more to keep with the word limit.

I’d love to know the narrator of your poem, Reena. I’m thinking war, but I’m not sure.

War can be one of the scenarios.
