“I thought the plan was foolproof, least of all did I expect my assistant to catch me,” he’s not as perturbed by the prison sentence, as with the idea of being caught by a junior.
“It was just a single thought …if it’s you, there has to be a method to the madness.”
“You deciphered the method, but not the madness …. strategic thinking is not intuitive or perceptive.”
“I guess it’s too late.”
“No… your madness was always evident,” his voice is dark and deep, “see what awaits you on that chair so coveted by you. I planned revenge too.”
Arrogance and overconfidence, a deadly combination. I quote you ‘ Intent and intelligence are different things.’
Nicely written, as usual.

Arrogance has the potential to spread like a cancer and leave a person with a twisted view of reality. Couple it with a bit of emotional imbalance and well…you get someone like your protagonist.

That’s a nice interpretation! 😂

Nothing is foolproof, fools are so ingenious that nothing is impossible for a sufficiently motivated fool.

Agree. Intent and intelligence are different things.
