Forgotten pen

I finally got around to cleaning the house, after a couple of lazy weekends.

Contents of drawers spilt out. As I was changing the newspaper lining the drawers, a voice stopped me. Eerily, the paper spoke.

“Check the date. You know a team worked so hard to get this out by dawn.”

“In pre-pandemic times? I haven’t bought a newspaper since then.”

“Screens have overtaken the pen.”

  1. Got a very good deal on the New York Times — full week for less than the cost of the Sunday paper. Perhpas the next sales pitch will be the paper can have a conversation with you. Funny thing is, we didn’t get the subscription until during the height of the pandemic when going to the store to pick up milk and the paper seemed just too risky.
