Horrors of the night

Inspiring prose

“Darkness came, full of moths and beetles. I was oppressed by the velvety emptiness of the word and swathes of soft grass. Then the fumes of the night put me to sleep” (As I walked out one Midsummer morning)

 claustrophobic darkness
not-s0-romantic a night
prickly, sick dreams
make me long for light
I wonder what a poet sees
in decaying slices of the moon
thick, dark, smoky layers
stars pushed in cloud cocoons
a lonely heart somewhere
croons a melancholy song
I drift from exhaustion to sleep
it will be dawn before long…
