disappointment
in my mother’s eyes
often made me wonder
if I’m an
anomaly or anachronism
Years later
I’m forced to think -
was I just
ahead of my times
or a misunderstood aphorism?
I arrived
when a few looked up to
and followed me…
should I term it
admiration or plagiarism?
The ever seeking child, which is all of us in some way.

Lol…or an attempt at mutual human support and encouragement, a.k.a perhaps-misplaced/misunderstood kindness on the part of the so-called “follower”….
Interesting questions 👏

What you say is possible… but there can be points of view based on experience and expectation.

This hit home on many levels, Reena. My mother told me everyday I wasn’t loveable. I asked her about it many years later, and she said she just didn’t understand me, and worried about my future – she was trying to prepare me for what she thought my life would be. In the end, we only come to doubt ourselves. Love the ending, too.

Genetic bonds don’t always lead to a natural understanding. We are all different individuals with different mindsets and expectations. But getting over disapproval from a parent takes time.
