It is New Year’s Eve, and the place looks bare without the streamers and balloons. But she can hear the music playing, and the image of her little one dancing looms large in her mind.
It is her last night in this place. She will go back to a country she used to call home, once upon a time. She is not sure of the reception that awaits her at the other end of the world. But there is no other option.
Her little one has now grown up, and is busy with his family. There is no place for a mother in his home and life, and no reason for her to stay back here – alone in a foreign land.
She takes a last look at the place, recalls the merriment and walks towards the gate with heavy footsteps. How she wishes her husband was alive ….
This story really portrays a nostalgic scene and has a sad and lonely tone to it. Great story, Reena!

Life can be cruel at times especially when kids fly from the nest. I hope she finds solace amongst her people.

And yet, the likeliest time to be alone. We search for solitude in other phases of life.
