“What is this tree called?”
“No clue. I’m lost in the art.”
“Check the internet quickly, and build a story around its significance and benefits to the human race.”
“You have no interest in the chiselled parts? I think this is extraordinary. We must meet the artist.”
“The artist needs to go underground. This will soon become a place of worship, and we will circulate stories about the Lord making an appearance to bless the human race. I can see currency notes falling around the tree.”
“I’m yet to meet God, but I’ll never see a monster greater than you.”

Great take on the prompt. Some people are so cynical as to want to exploit everything and everyone

Cynical or power hungry? Thanks!

This is unfortunately very true often of many in society! Very well-observed & captured.

Where there are people willing to be exploited, someone will always find a fine. Excellent take on the prompt.

Thanks, Subroto! Noam Chomsky has a quote for this -“For the powerful, crimes are always committed by others”.

Sad but a fact of organised religion, in fact any religion as far as I’m concerned, a great piece about selfishness and greed

You are right in saying ‘any religion’. So-called gods are created outside places of worship too – in corporates, politics, entertainment and anybody who questions authority is made to feel guilty.

Perhaps he thought it was a money tree – commercialisation of any commodity, sometimes art is just art for art’s sake.

It reminded me of totems. Even those have become commercialized. Still an artist has to eat and the way things are structured everyone makes money with whatever is left over going to the one who created it in the first place.

You described the process so accurately.

The one seems focussed in the here and now, while the other schemes and talks about potential.
Art is about slowing down, and really seeing things.

One needs to watch closely to understand the magnitude of effort at times. Like I have seen dancers drop their jaws on watching another’s superlative performance. They know what it takes.

Good take. Commercialism is everywhere, but if it puts food on the artist’s table, maybe that’s not an entirely bad thing.

It is good, as long as the artist earns, not an external manipulator.

That’s what I meant. Sometimes there’s a blurry line between effective management and ruthless exploitation.

These things can be easily done on a banana tree. But this must have been a challenge.

Yes, and carving in a manner as not to harm the 🌲 tree!

That is paramount! It should pain though. Trees are live creatures.
