Ageing is not a particularly pleasant experience. Yet, I rejoice in being the person I am, with added wisdom, missing in yesteryears.
I have a laser vision, despite the glasses I wear to read. I can see through fake-ness, flattery, manipulation and deceit.
I have a signature style in everything from attire to writing, which is independent of fleeting trends.
I have real stories to tell, which are not crafted by a professional.
my ugliness won’t
matter, as long as I can
create soul beauty
star spangled nights show me
I need darkness to shine
I like the strength of the individual of this subject. But why “darkness to shine”?

LOVE this, Reena. This has to be one of my favourites of yours….so far. I think social awareness/intelligence is the highest form of wisdom, which lasts longer than any physical beauty.

Thank you so much! IMO, digital is actually making judgement blurry -and then we move to the other extreme of not trusting anyone.

No wonder people choose dimly lit places for a date. Thanks 😊

It’s good to be able to “see through fake-ness, flattery, manipulation and deceit.”

Some of us do it better than others. But it also becomes a block to happiness.

I thought about the ravages of old age at first as a topic that well expressed the topic of beauty in ugliness. You demonstrated this very well in your poem. good work!

It occurs to me that seeing age as ugliness is a construct of media. As you illustrate, there are many gifts that come with age.

Yes. The body does change, but the mind gets better.
