Wickless Lamp

I’m on a visit to my village after two decades. My school still looks the same. Grey walls, wooden staircase, old-fashioned desks …. It needs repair in some places, before they move to renovation. Lack of funds has been an issue for long.

A small donation from me is appreciated, but is clearly insufficient to meet their needs. I return with a heavy heart. The lamp that lit our lives, and set us on the path to a better existence needs a filament and power to fulfil its purpose today.

I know the value of each step I climb today.

  1. Such a shame. I know that both my junior and senior schools I attended have since been demolished, but thankfully replaced with new modern buildings. Still a shame I can not go back for a bit of nostalgia and inspiration!
