I read somewhere that wildfires occur to destroy the weeds in the forest, and the existing trees become manure to emergence of new life.
The same cannot be said about the impact of natural disasters on civilisation. We have no system to differentiate between the weeds and trees, or accept the reduction of a tree to manure. We believe in equal opportunity to grow, and allow natural death to determine the end of existence.
It makes me think if nature is unable to see civilisation as an useful element. Where do we stand in the grand design of things?
