Parallel Threads

I will not let you

spread your tentacles

to catch them young

take away

all that is fair and nice

rebrand ethics

remnants of pride

broken and put together

in desired shapes

blossoming

buds to be injected

with synthetic fragrance

to create

new adaptable versions

to fight your battles

a new me

not knowing what to stand for

disguised achievements

far away

from the core of being

fulfilling a grand design

from dark shadows

enriching a haze

getting lost in the same

so deeply embedded

in smoky mirrors

concealing true faces

within you

molten identities

tooting our victory

  1. three distinct “melody lines” here and each of the “molten” with meaning. Well done. I especially love these lines when read together:
    “in smoky mirrors
    concealing true faces
    within you
    molten identities
    tooting our victory”

  2. I like the use of bold colour to identify the contrapuntal poems, Reena, and the weaving of the contrasting images: such as the tentacles and the blossoming buds. I also like the way you describe propaganda as ‘synthetic fragrance to create new adaptable versions’ and its results as ‘molten identities tooting our victory’.
