Fait Accompli

The dilapidated factory was just one of the ruins he had inherited. A mentally ill mother, an alcoholic brother and warring factions of an extended family pulled him back to the village, after his father’s demise.

He had to restart the factory, so that the villagers who had lost their livelihood could be re-employed. Peace had to be restored by resolving land ownership issues, so that farming could start again. He wondered if his business management degree from Harvard would be of any use in this place.

Another fait accompli was presented — his American wife asking for a divorce……

  1. I think I prefer to regard him as a man who thrives on challenge. He offers his wife a key role in his work, and works alongside her to save the world – or, at least, their little bit of it!
