Criminal remains
beg forgiveness, as the flames
devor their darkness.
An awakening too late
does not help them, or the world.
They stepped into sin
and were soon sucked by quick sands
Impossible was
re-emergence or escape
when they wanted it.
A blurred perspective
and the lure of quick money
entrenched their young feet
in caves with no exit doors
till they perished on their own.
Nobody mourns them
other than shame-faced mothers
who hide tears
behind black veils, to mask
crimes which are not their own.

Wow, this is a scary dark version of this picture…which all of us seem to be taking as hellish ..Like the way you bring up crimes not their own…excellent write!

The above section is so powerful! I always wondered how the mom feels who no matter loves their child unconditionally. So well said.

Thank you, Sandi! We have heard of parents disowning dead bodies, after the criminals serve their death sentence. They have to live on, with all the hatred in society.
