The picture fails to inspire me.
My instructor for the Creative Writing course looked exasperated.
Any specific reason?
I suffer from ophidiophobia. This picture resembles the head of a snake.
But it is not. Look at the tiny leaves growing around. It is the bark of an unusual tree.
But, I will write about what I see. And I feel disgusted and ……………. scared.
Analyze this further. We write stories of our lives, based on what we see. It is just a perspective, that creates reality.
What are you trying to say?
A writer needs to understand the perspective of the character, and develop it further.
Makes sense, but how?
What can a snake in the picture want to do?
Lunge out of the screen to harm me. There were dots of perspiration on my forehead.
Or just slither away. They don’t like humans either.
Possible. I heaved a sigh of relief.
Now, what could be happening inside a tree trunk?
There can be unusual forms of life, which have a story to tell. A botanist and a philosopher would both understand.
I was getting wiser now. He continued,
Fears, perspective and approach are the key to understanding and action.

I liked how you wrote this blog. Even without many words, it was interesting. Well done!

Interesting, trying to write about something that we don’t like. I’m not sure I could do it. Well done.

I’d write about it *because* I was scared.

Perfect! Write about whatever comes to your mind at that moment, and it becomes a piece.

Interesting way to use the prompt, and great insights on perspective, too. I still can’t quite see the snake in the image, but I can imagine someone imagining it, and that’s half the story right there.
