The Return

The sky looked rather ugly, as if a flock of injured birds was returning after a lost battle. She felt like all those swabs of blood soaked cotton in the hospital dressing room, were carelessly strewn over the sky, but could not cover up or heal the wounds beneath. It was an ominous sign of bad times returning once again.

Sister Marianne was the best nurse this hospital had ever known, and was the recipient of several awards and accolades. Nobody knew where she came from, and her last name was nowhere on record.

Today, she had seen the car of her ex-husband parked in the street, and his second wife helping him get out of the car. The wealthiest man in the state was suffering from cirrhosis of liver, but could not give up alcohol.

She was in charge of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Drugs De-addiction Center.

  1. Lovely story, Reena 🙂 Liked the way you described the sky. I am curious to know what happens next. Does she help him to overcome the addiction? Or, is revenge on her mind? 😉
